About

Support that fits your stage of life

Our psychologists use evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Sessions are a confidential space to understand what you are experiencing and find practical ways forward. Psychologists can also complete assessments and provide Medicare-rebated sessions with a Mental Health Treatment Plan. We also see many clients through WorkCover (WorkSafe Victoria) and TAC, supporting recovery and return to work after an injury or accident.

Psychology can help with

  • Anxiety, worry and stress
  • Low mood and depression
  • Trauma and distress after a workplace injury or transport accident
  • Grief and loss
  • Adjusting to retirement, illness or other life changes
  • Living with a chronic health condition or disability
  • The emotional load of caring for someone

Questions

Psychology questions

Do I need a referral to see a psychologist?

Not to attend, but you need a Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP, psychiatrist or paediatrician to claim Medicare rebates.

How many sessions does Medicare cover?

Under Better Access, you can claim rebates for up to 10 individual sessions per calendar year with a valid Mental Health Treatment Plan.

What is the difference between a psychologist and a counsellor?

Both offer talking therapy. Psychologists can also diagnose, complete assessments and provide Medicare-rebated sessions. Our intake team can help you decide which suits you.

Can I see a psychologist through WorkCover or TAC?

Yes. With an accepted WorkSafe Victoria (WorkCover) or TAC claim and a referral from your doctor, our registered psychologists can bill sessions to your claim. Bring your claim number and your agent or case manager details. How WorkCover and TAC psychology works.

Can sessions be held by telehealth?

Yes. Sessions are available at our Doreen and Craigieburn clinics or by telehealth.
