Who we help

After a workplace injury or transport accident

An injury can affect much more than your body. Pain, disrupted sleep, worry about work and money, and memories of what happened can all make recovery harder. Wonderful Mind Adult & Aged Care provides psychology and occupational therapy for people with an accepted WorkSafe Victoria (WorkCover) or Transport Accident Commission (TAC) claim, in Doreen, Craigieburn and across Melbourne’s north.

We work with your doctor, your WorkSafe agent or TAC case manager, and your employer where appropriate, so your treatment, reports and return-to-work plan stay connected.

What you need

  • Your WorkSafe or TAC claim number
  • A referral from your doctor (needed for WorkCover, and for TAC psychology)
  • Your agent or case manager’s details
  • For WorkCover occupational therapy: agent approval before treatment starts

Questions

WorkCover and TAC questions

Can I see a psychologist through WorkCover?

Yes. If you have an accepted WorkSafe Victoria (WorkCover) claim and a referral from a medical practitioner, our registered psychologists can bill sessions to your claim. WorkSafe does not fund provisional psychologists, so you will see a fully registered psychologist.

Does WorkCover pay for occupational therapy?

Yes, for a work-related injury or illness covered by an accepted claim. WorkSafe Victoria needs a referral from a medical practitioner, and your agent must approve the referral before treatment starts.

Does the TAC pay for psychology?

Yes, for mental health needs related to a transport accident. You need a referral from your doctor. In the first 90 days after the accident, the TAC can pay for the first six psychology sessions without prior approval; after that, your psychologist submits a treatment plan and the TAC decides on further sessions.

Does the TAC pay for occupational therapy?

Yes, for injuries from a transport accident. In the first 90 days after the accident you do not need TAC approval; after 90 days, or if it has been more than six months since your last TAC-paid treatment, approval is needed.

Do I have to pay upfront?

Usually not. With your claim number we can bill WorkSafe Victoria or the TAC directly. If our fee is above the scheme rate, a gap may apply, and we will tell you before your first session.

Can occupational therapy help me get back to work?

Yes. Our occupational therapists assess what you can do now, set goals with you, and work on routines, pacing, equipment and graded activity to support a safe return to work and daily life.

Can I have sessions at home or by telehealth?

Occupational therapy can be at our Doreen or Craigieburn clinics or at home where suitable. Psychology is available in clinic or by telehealth, within WorkSafe and TAC telehealth rules.

Funding rules are set by WorkSafe Victoria and the TAC and can change. Your agent or case manager can confirm what your claim covers.

Have a WorkCover or TAC claim?

Our intake team can check what your claim covers and arrange your first session, usually within a few days of approval.
